Mariem Abutaleb (b. 1997, Cairo, Egypt) is an artist and graphic designer with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the American University in Cairo (AUC).
Mariem believes in writing and documentation as powerful visual languages capable of conveying profound messages, often those that remain unread. At the core of her work is the exploration of Arabic script, regarded as a dynamic and expressive form. The artworks are characterized by a strong focus on experimentation, while creating visually harmonious, and diverse compositions. Mariem harnesses the potential and fluidity of Arabic script, using it as a medium for abstraction and emotional depth —a conduit for thoughts and introspection.
Her designs span various mediums, including fabric, where she brings her artistic vision to life. Mariem’s work has garnered attention on a global scale, with invitations to showcase her pieces in exhibitions across New York, Minneapolis, Belgium, Berlin, Athens, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and more.
