At Mariem's Studio-Egypt, 2024

Mariem Abutaleb (b. 1997, Cairo, Egypt) is an artist and graphic designer with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the American University in Cairo (AUC).
Mariem views writing and documentation as powerful visual languages capable of conveying profound emotions, often those that remain unread. At the core of her work is the exploration of Arabic script, regarded as a dynamic and expressive form. Through handwriting in bold black ink, Mariem’s practice is rooted in experimentation, creating abstract compositions and patterns that balance harmony with spontaneity.
By embracing the fluidity of Arabic script, her work blurs the line between text and abstraction, transforming writing to transcend readability and become a sensory experience—felt rather than merely read.Inviting personal interpretation, her compositions immerse viewers in the rhythm and power of the script.
Mariem’s work has gained international recognition, with invitations to showcase her pieces in exhibitions across New York, Minneapolis, Belgium, Berlin, Athens, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and beyond.
